A Message from Christi McBride

Dear HHCC Students and Families;

Welcome to Hoosier Hills Career Center!  As the Director, I am proud to share with you the outstanding programs and staff  HHCC has to offer. We strive to help students develop their technical skills and explore their interests in multiple career pathways.  While at HHCC, students will have the opportunity to learn from teachers who are industry professionals in their career pathway.  Students will practice employability skills, meet employers, establish resumes, and learn valuable technical skills for their postsecondary plans.  Whether a student plans to enroll in postsecondary education, enlist in one of the Armed Services, or become an employee, HHCC will prepare them for their next step.

Hoosier Hills Career Center is the Area #36 site for career and technical education.  HHCC provides Career and Technical Education (CTE) for nine high schools within Area #36.  High school students may enroll in half classes for high school credit, as well as, dual credit with our secondary partners Ivy Tech, Vincennes University and Lincoln Technical Institute. HHCC programs reflect employment needs within Region 8 and program content is up-dated through use of advisory committees who complete a local needs assessment.

This handbook is updated and published annually to help provide a safe and productive learning environment for students, staff, families, and visitors. The handbook explains students’ rights, responsibilities and consequences for misbehavior. Families and guardians are encouraged to take a few minutes to review and discuss the information in this handbook with their student. Teachers will also review this handbook with students at the beginning of the school year. Students will be expected to sign and return a form indicating that they have read and understand the provisions in the handbook.

Thank you for taking the time to become familiar with the important information in this handbook.  If you have any questions please contact the Hoosier Hills Career Center administrative office at (812) 330-7730. Thank you and have a great year!

Christy Wrightsman,
Director at Hoosier Hills Career Center
